The Wonders of Quiapo
June 6, 2006I know buying pirated DVDs or pirated anythings is just plain wrong. Quite unforgivable for an aspiring lawyer like me who should be the first one to abide by those laws prohibiting it. But what the heck… I ain’t a lawyer yet. I don’t have enough money to buy me original DVDs. So for now, forgive me oh my beloved country but I’m too bored at home that I can’t think of anything to do but watch TV. But then again the programs are too boring in the afternoons and late nights. So I bought a couple of DVDs in quiapo. Boy are they so cheap. I bought 4 DVDs with 4-6 movies each. Kate Hudson, Meg Ryan, Animation-cartoons, comedy-drama.
I opted to watch Ice Age 2 first. I was so disappointed when I wasn’t able to watch it in the theatre while all my friends have been talking about how funny it is. One even said that a minute won’t pass without me laughing. Oh he overestimated my humor. I know I’m mababaw but… I didn’t finish watching the film… I was bored. Thank God my parents were going to the mall so I joined them na lang. I was making an excuse to myself not to finish the film everyone else was telling me is SUPAH FUNNY! yikes… Now I get to think why… Is it because I don’t get the FUN parts? haha.
When we got back, I watched Over the Hedge. Nice choice for me. Papa was watching with me and I can’t make him see me watching Kate Hudson’s or Meg Ryan’s movies which might have kissing scenes. Daddy’s little good girl, y’know. *wink* The movie is fine. It is actually good. One thing that made me think of it much is the part where the lead character said that humans live to eat while animals eat to live. Quite right. It was shown how everything we do ends up to the only thing we love doing: EAT! It’s like we just eat all the time. We work so that we’d have money to buy our food. We exercise so that we’d have enough space in our body to fill up with food. On the other hand, those animals eat to live. Wait… I don’t think so. They are the ones who kill to eat. And they have nothing else to do but eat! While we, humans have to enhance our minds, our personality, emotions, and a lot more! Oh well… It’s just a movie. A cartoon even. haha. I’m blabbering. Better stop. NOW. next!
Oh… sila nmndaw manonood ng TV. hehe. tama na muna DVD… to be continued…

yep, i agree. but it does not mean that we could or should go against our government. Dura lex sed lex.
Posted by rebecca at June 10, 2006, 12:02 amoh please, rebecca. tell that to the edsa revolutionaries who went against the government and paved way for us a dictator-less society. okay, im not making a comparison between piracy and this episode in philippine history, but you see my point.
Posted by jesse at June 10, 2006, 1:35 amYou were making a comparison which I think you just did not intend to do. Let's not get started with a discussion on EDSA. I'm totally against EDSA2. hehe. Call me disillusioned but I'm like… an Erap fanatic.
This is just it: if I have enough money to buy original DVDs, I would not buy the pirated ones — not only because originals have better copies but also because for me, piracy is mala in se. *smile* I'm not into convincing anyone to think the same.
I read your blogs… you are good… better than me. *wink* we could stop and just respect each other's opinions. It's just my way of saying… ok, I know I could stand for what I believe in but eventually, I might give up on this some kind of an argument coz you're good with words… Im just not. hehe. And I don't want this to get all serious…
Can I link your site? I will ha…. even before you reply. hehe. thanks! …for dropping by my blog.
thanks! …you got me thinking *wink*

I don't think that you are. I appreciate your comments nga eh. i'm just not like other law students na hindi tumitigil…
malapit na kse pasukan.. bka if we go on "arguing" (though i also do believe we're not), hindi nako mkareply. hehe. thanks thanks tlga… hehehe.

You know I think piracy actually plays an important role in society. It helps those fat-ass producers realize theyre overpricing their wares when people can get them for a mere fraction of the SRP. Look what happened to VCDs. So go buy some more
